Sombrio: The Mountain Bike Clothing That Does it All! (+ Giveaway!)

Sombrio Mountain Bike Clothing

Women’s mountain biking clothing is relatively new to the industry. Ladies deserve to look good when they hit the mountains and many companies are just now catching on to this idea. And some companies are taking it more seriously than others, giving us a reason to be grateful that the seed has been planted and enjoy/critic the clothing as it makes it way from design to production.

There are a few companies that have boldly moved into the women’s mountain biking clothing industry and taken it a step farther then the average curly cues and light blue. One such company is Sombrio. Not only has the company been producing mountain bike clothes for women, it’s designers have explored the everyday living concept and created a ‘life’ line to compliment its powerful, female, cycling line.

This Vancouver based company has brought fashion to ladies on their bike, but has also shown that it doesn’t need to end there. With a full line up of every day shorts, t-shirts, jackets and hoodies, all inspired by the same whimsical, fun themes we see throughout their biking line, Sombrio ‘Life’ makes transitioning off the bike that much easier.

The Bread Tank and Road Trip Shorts (as seen above), for example, are cute and sure beat wearing your stinky cycling clothes out after a ride! Plus, the same high quality materials and design used in Sombrio’s ‘Bike’ line are seen in the ‘Life’ line as well.

So if the ‘Life’ line is this good, what does the ‘Bike’ line entail?

The Zinnia Shorts are everything you could want in a pair of mountain biking shorts. They feature the vital four-way stretch material, with oversized belt loops and velcro secured pockets. They do not include a chamois, but are designed to be worn with one under if you feel so inclined.

And to go on top?

The Zin Jersey –> This seamless, moisture wicking, anti-bacterial jersey combines what you want in a jersey with what you need in one. All the technical jargon means you will be dry, bacteria free and comfortable while you ride. But the design, stripes and colors mean you will be thrilled to see yourself when your friend posts the pictures from last weekends trip online.

And these are just a few examples! Visit Sombrio’s website to see the entire line!

  1. So cute! Thanks again for once again turning me onto cute athletic & lifestyle clothing! I hope I win!

  2. I’m still very new to mountain biking, but I think my favorite place to mountain bike so far has been Flat Rock Ranch in Comfort, TX (probably cause I won my races there!) I just got my fiance to agree to go mountain biking with me this weekend at our local trails, though, so that may soon become my favorite mountain biking memory!

  3. I love biking in Palo Duro Canyon in Amarillo, Texas! Biking in Cuzco, Peru is a dream I am just so incredibly lucky to be from Peru and being able to do it when I go visit my parents. Same can be said for riding just outside Lima, at the foot of the Andes.

  4. Love riding in Marin and Santa Cruz Counties!

  5. I love the style of the Sombrio clothing! Especially the tank tops look awesome.

  6. I love to ride the red rocks of Sedona,AZ!!!

Colorado springs, colorado!!! Beautiful place to ride. Moab is also one of my favorites!

  9. VERY cute clothes!! The Zin Jersey would totally match the colors on my bike, I need to get one :) . I have some amazing places to ride around here… a couple of state parks, and a local park that has both horse trails that are bike friendly and a dedicated mountain bike trail. Mohican State Park is my favorite- AMAZING trails and tons of them!

  10. I love the “life” line and “bike” line breakdowns, and the Road Trip Shorts, and jerseys, respectively.

I just began mountain biking last fall in northeast Iowa (the part of Iowa that has hills). It has definitely prepared me for biking through the snow and ice in Wisconsin! I recommend getting on any of your local trails to boost your confidence and bike handling abilities!

  12. VERY CUTE JACKET!!! Especially the colors. Overall great jacket. I’m still new to mountain biking, but I have to say my favorite place to go is Fort Ord, CA. I’m still trying to conquer the trails, but I’m starting to get a hang of it. Also, I love going down the Monterey Bay coastal line. Both equally relaxing in their own special way.

  13. Looks like Sombrio really knows how to design cycling clothes that are cute and functional! I’ve never heard of them before, but I will definitely be checking them out!

I love mountain biking in Palo Duro Canyon! We were there this weekend, and the trails are so fun to ride, not to mention beautiful scenery!

  14. It’s great to see a more FEMININE line of mtb clothes…finally…and with some flair!!

Where do I ride? Where DON’T I ride?! I ride and race pretty much anywhere, but my my recent favs are Costa Rica (La Ruta do Los Conquistadores mtb stage race), Maui (XTERRA!), most anything out west and or remote, and of course home sweet home…Sedona Arizona! Miles and miles of glorious trails and views!

  15. I would LOVE this jacket! It would be great for spring riding. I don’t have any favorite places for mountain biking yet, but I’m loving reading the other posts for some great ideas. I’d love to try Moab this fall, and I’ve wanted to try the Antelope Island moonlight ride in June for years now. Hopefully this year it will happen!

  16. It’s great to bike ride in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco!

  17. Super cute jacket! I love biking the white tanks in AZ! :)

  18. Wow this is SUPER cute!!!!

  19. I love to mountain bike in my backyard, the Lowell forest in MA, with my dog!

  20. Nockamixon State Park in PA, Batsto Village in NJ’s Pine Barrens, The Wiss – Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia. Great looking jacket, nice work Sombrio!

The Potawatomi Trail in the Ann Arbor Michigan area is a wonderful mountain biking trail! Several years ago they hosted a poker ride as a fundraiser for a local charity (hurray for the legitimate reason to stop for a breather!)

    Super. Cute. Jacket! :-)

  22. My favorite place to Mountain Bike? Outside :) Honestly, this will be the first year I will be doing much mountain biking as I have been road cycling in the past. Now I need another bike and more clothes and some favorite trails – nothing wrong with that! Thanks for an opportunity to try out a line of clothing completely unfamiliar to me at this time!

  23. My mountain bike and I LOVE riding in Aliso and Wood Canyon Wilderness Park in Aliso Viejo, CA. Ten minutes from the beach, and surrounded by suburbia, you’d never know it was there by driving by. It has all levels of trails, great view from up top, gorgeous canyons and meadows and wild life…last Sunday I had to stop to allow a family of 7 deer to cross the trail! Sombrio has some very nice new designs for women riders. We sure need more clothes choices out there! The jacket looks very versatile too!

  24. Lambert Park in Alpine, Utah, is a lot of fun, beautiful in the spring and fall!

  25. I’m mostly on the road bike, but there are some nice trails in Cedar Hill, Tx and River Legacy in Arlington, Tx that I like to go for mtn bike.

  26. Very excited to see more and better options for womens mountain bike clothing!

  27. Thank you for some cool designs for MTB riding! Yeah!

  28. My favorite place to mountain bike is Davis, WV. Great single track and almost always see a bear!

  29. Currently sporting a hot pink cast on my right wrist due to a mountain bike crash…can’t wait to get back! Great desert riding in AZ: Cave Creek, Scottsdale, McDowell Mountains, Phoenix Mountain Preserve…or you can head to the pines up north in Prescott and Sedona. Whiskey 50 Mountain Bike Race in Prescott is a fantastic event!!!

  30. While living in Boise, in the summer, I loved biking up to the mountain tops to the ski resorts. On sunny days, you could see beautiful flowers and ranges of trees, awesome animals, all while breathing incredibly clean air. I appreciate clothing that can take you from the trail to the bistro for a refreshing tea and a healthy meal after a good workout on the bike! Your clothing is perfect for the active biker! Thank you!

  31. Santa Cruz Mountains, of course! Home of the best mountain biking in the world!

  32. Cascades between Bend and Oakridge, OR. Gorgeous trails ranging in trickiness, some with spectacular views, all super fun. We are about to go on a road trip with our bikes and climbing gear – thinking of heading to southern Utah/Arizona area. Looking for suggestions. I love this new line of mtn bike gear for women – about time!!

  33. I just love the convenience of riding out my back door (Harrisburg PA) but really hope to explore and do some mtb vacations in the future.

  34. I’m living in WI at present, and I mostly hit up Lowes Creek in Eau Claire. But I’m sure to have a wider range of adventures this year.

  35. my favorite place to mountain bike? All of them. I love my hometown trail, but any trail brings the same safisfaction. Having the wind blow through your hair, the sun shine on your cheecks, the endorphines shooting through your veins, the paradice of the nature around you, the sounds on the trail (cracking dry branches, the birds, the river stream, and the silence). Although biking provides an escape from the everyday world, its nice not to have to carry an extra change of clothes when going back to ‘mainstream’. As an everyday bike commuter, I am building a functional wardrobe to go from trail to train. However and where ever I am commuting I like my technical gear to have style. The Sombrio line is excellent for the avid everyday bike rider ;)
