C & S Food Find: Better than Halloween Candy!

There’s a lot of “Eat this, Not that”  advice for Halloween treats. It’s true, you can make better candy choices than others such as having a Payday bar instead of a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup. But there really are better choices for snacks than grabbing a handful of the kids’ trick-or-treat loot. Your good girl side wants the snack products that are healthy, but let’s face it, a healthy energy bar might not satisfy that sweet tooth. On the other shoulder you may have a little devil encouraging you to choose the sweet “empty calorie” treat that will regret later. What you really want to do is to please both sides and find a sweet treat healthy treat that won’t be a caloric over-kill..

The aptly named HALO bars that PROBAR introduced this past summer seem to be the perfect fit: a healthy 150 calorie bar that tastes like a candy bar. PROBAR’s  line of decadent sounding dessert bars come in flavors such as: S’mores, Nutty Marshmallow, Rocky Road, and Honey Graham. The little angel on your other shoulder will be pleased to know that the Halo bars are certified organic, a good source of Omega 3 & 6, low-in-sugar and dairy-free/Vegan (the bars even won an award for Best New Vegan Product.

It’s even got a cute tagline: The Sinfully Healthy Snack! We bought several bars, tried them all and really liked the thought of a great-tasting healthy treat that can substitute nicely for candy. That’s why it is Cycle & Style’s best Food Find for Fall 2011!
