Summer Fruit Smoothie – Just for YOU!!

After spending a week in the Caribbean, I defiantly have fresh fruit smoothies on the mind.  I took those sweet fresh fruit drinks right from my beach vacation to my after workout treat.  I hit the trail with my husband in Park City on Saturday morning and by the late afternoon we were both enjoying a “Strawberry Banana Smoothie” on the front porch.

 “Strawberry Banana Smoothie”

1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

1 banana

1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt

ice cubes

In your blender, combine strawberries, banana, yogurt and ice cubes.  Blend until mixture is smooth and frothy.

The combinations are endless and Cycle & Style would love to hear about your favorite Pre- or Post-Workout Smoothie.  Comment on this article with your suggestions for a great smoothie.  Maybe it’s the ingredients or the combinations … tell us what works for you!! 1. I like using frozen fruits when making post-ride smoothies because then I can usually skip the ice. Blueberries make a great addition, and I like tossing some almonds in as well. A spoonful of peanut butter can also be good, if you’re after a heartier, meal-replacement sort of smoothie.

  2. My smoothie is real simple…. pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, and spinach. A little water and ice and then grind away in the vitamix. You can’t even taste the spinach and it adds some healthy greens to your diet. (I leave the green tops on the strawberries too.)

  3. I start with a banana and vanilla yogurt, add frozen fruit, your choice – that way I skip the ice cubes! I top with non dairy whipped topping, sprinkle with cinnamon and dig in! We often have these for breakfast. No added sugar, plenty of fiber and loads of good taste!

  4. I freeze the fruit so I can skip the ice too. I like using a greek yogurt (like Fage) and sometimes add a bit of a good fruit juice – mango juice works *really* well with bananas and blueberries.
