A Midsummer Night’s Glow (+ BikeWrapper Giveaway)

In a previous article we had discussed some future trends in cycling clothing and gear. A favorite among those who commented was the reflective technology that helps riders to be seen at night and not have to cut short a ride as the sun sets on the horizon. We were excited to hear about a new product that has both style and function and will let your bike be seen at night: BikeWrappers.  The bike wrappers are a simple concept that works: “it’s like reflective clothing…but for your bicycle!”

There are several prints to choose from and you can pick one to suit your style.

The wrappers are reversible, one side features a cute print and the other side has the reflective material. It’s like your bike has a day look and a night look. The quick change can be done in less than a minute. It can also be used on a variety of bike frames, (although not all—it would not work for my Electra Amsterdam Sport, or my wide-tubed Cannondale road bike for example.)  We tried it on a standard road bike frame, a mountain bike and the step-through frame of a Globe Vienna. The latter needed only 2 of the 3 wrappers.

We love the idea of a wrapper that can protect your bike frame from scratches and dirt and makes your bike stand out from the rest. The wrappers are lightweight and machine washable. But the BEST part is that your bike can be visible in the beam of car headlights a quarter mile away and your bike will be visible from all sides. Finally, the bike wrappers also got the thumbs up from teenage girls—another plus!

The reflectivity of the BikeWrappers is picked up in the light amazingly well.

Another Great Giveaway! Win some BikeWrappers for your bike!

Cycle & Style along with BikeWrappers are having a giveaway of these wrappers for your bike. The two wrappers here: the zebra print and the colored half-moon print BikeWrappers are going to be given away to two lucky readers. Not only would they be great for keeping you safe and look nice on your bike, but would be awesome to have on the bike for a night ride.  (We have a list of some fun night rides here.)

Contest will run through June 21–and hopefully the winners can have their wrappers in time for Midsummer’s Eve (June 24th.) Please use your real (at least a first) name and know we can mail to addresses in the US & Canada only.

The bike wrappers even come with a zebra print!

This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! I want ALL of my friends to see my bike dressed up!

  2. Would love to have these for my bike. I wouldn’t have to repaint it!!

  3. Would love to have a wrap, it would make riding on my dimly lit streets very nice.

  4. Niiiiiiiiiiiice!

  5. These are great!

  6. Oh my gosh… what a brilliant concept!
Where I live, the roads are not as cyclist friendly as other places in the world, so any extra relective devises would be extremely beneficial….and a life saver for that matter!

  7. Love this! You can never have too much reflective stuff!

  8. so cute! I don’t know if I can wait until the 21st… the zebra bike wrapper is calling my name…

  9. So righteous! These would definitely come in handy when out at night so the cars know to look out!

  10. Fantastic! As a randonneuse and bike commuter, I spend many hours riding in the dark. Being as visible as possible is so critical. I LOVE these BikeWrappers!!

  11. These are great! and such a good idea! Riding home in the dark is so dangerous – sometimes i feel like i’m sort of holding my breath – praying the cars see me till i arrive home….

  12. This is super excellent for the reason of visibility and the reason of style but I’m also extremely excited about these because when I go back home where there is a high rate of bike theft, my Cannondale looks way too appealing and this will at least cover the brand name and make it less conspicuous without having to sacrifice my bike’s looks when I am around it and can keep an eye on it :D
