Last-Minute Cycling Gifts & Stocking Stuffers
By Jessie Anne Keller
Need a gift idea for the cyclists in your life? Check out these ideas and head down to your local bike shop. A thoughtful little gift can make cycling more fun in the year to come! Other ideas: a small multi-tool, a tire repair kit, some tire levers, an inner tube, wedge packs, a CO2 inflator, energy bars, gloves, a new helmet and cycling clothing.

The cute little Knog Frog lights are "superbright microlights" that can be attached to your bike's handbars, the seatpost or rack and for a cool effect, around the tire hub to enhance your visibility. Frog lights come in a rainbow of colors and have white lights for the front and red light for the rear. Price: $12. Knog's wrap-around design for their Frog and Beetle lights which makes them easy to put just about anywhere.

The Beetle is the Frog's big brother with 2 LEDs instead of the Frog's one. The Knog Beetle is priced at $20.

How cool are these? Looking good is only part of it because these glasses have all the functionality a cyclist needs. The Oakley Radar features its Hydrophobic lens which resists the streaks and sheens of water and is smudge-resistant. (Different lenses=varied prices $175-$250.)

Staying hydrated is critical during a ride. Replace old damaged water bottle cages, or brighten the look of a bicycle with a colorful new one. (The red one pictured here is $8)

Can you really be too prepared? CO2 cartridges make nice little stocking stuffers. They are small and every cyclist needs one. The price is right too! ($3.99)

The Speed Zone Comp Wireless Bike Computer has the capability to store information for 2 bikes. It has all the features you'd expect in a bike computer including cadence plus outdoor temperature readings. Sized just right for a Christmas stocking stuffer! ($64.99)

GU energy gel packs make perfect stocking-stuffers. GU Roctane Gel packs are taken like regular GU but are specially formulated for hard, multi-hour training sessions or racing. ($2.49)

Stay hydrated in 2010. CamelBak Better Bottle is BPA free and the new design features a nicely designed valve for drinking and a straw so you don't have to tip it back to drink. For use on the bike and at the gym. ($11.96)

The Aussie company Knog has a great little handlebar bag called the Leading Dog Handlebar bag. It attaches to the handlebar mount of the bike with a quick little flick and detaches to become a shoulder bag. Should the weather be iffy, pop out the stowable rain-fly in the lower back pocket for protection. Price $50.
The above items can be found at Bingham Cyclery or if outside the Wasatch Front area, at many of your local bike shops.
